About this project

I am passionate about the environment. I am always keen to know rainfall patterns, temperature variations and other climatic data in an effort to understand my environment better. This also helps me understand how my environment has changed. This is even more true for my city - Bangalore, which has seen dramatic climatic changes over the last 10 years. We used to wear sweaters in Bangalore in the summer. Now, we do not use them even during winters. What has changed? To answer this, we need concrete data. Although data is publicly available, it is often available with a considerable time-lapse or is grossly inaccurate. Moreover, intra-city variations are huge for a large city like Bangalore.

This project, is an effort to measure these parameters and publish them for free. I hope you find this useful and are inspired to set-up your own weather monitoring stations. The vision is to have a network of home weather stations across the country.
